Design Impact

The weekend is here and we wanted to share The Weekend Keys.

Why Is Design Impact Important?

Who are we designing for? What are we considering when we are designing? So many more questions that come to mind when designing and more importantly inclusive and accessible design. Honestly, we wouldn’t have to say “inclusive and accessible design” if inclusion and accessibility was apart of our design process from the start. The design process is constantly changing, evolving, open to change. Nothing about design feels static or not changing. Change and impact are important words when we talk about inclusion, accessibility and design. We are always evolving, changes occur, and we have to be able to shift, whether it is opening ourselves up to a new perspective or having a conversation about design that once worked previously, no longer works because users needs have changed.

Inclusive design can benefit people beyond those with disabilities.

Quote by Xian Horn from Article: "Real talk: Inclusive design can benefit people beyond those with disabilities. Think about text-to-speech technology, which was originally designed for the disability community, Horn points out, but now iPhone users use it every day for convenience. “When you create for one community, you’re liberating many others that you may not even realize,” Horn says.
If more brands developed products with that ease of use in mind (peep some good ones at right), the beauty industry would be one step closer to helping all people feeling that surge of self-love. It’s about time, don’t ya think?..

The innovations in these projects go above and beyond the requisite wheelchair-accessible ramp.

Quote from Article: Monica Ponce de Leon, dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan, has advocated for “universal design” principles, demanding that everything — from products to the built environment — be usable to the greatest extent possible by everyone, regardless of their age, ability, or status in life.
